1. What you need to know

2. Plan your search

Start by brainstorming keywords on your topic. Also think of synonyms and alternative words you can use in your searching as well.

Below is an example of a table with a few keywords:

Search tips:

  • Use AND to combine keywords in your search

  • Use "double quotation marks" to keep phrases together
  • Use * to search words with various endings (e.g. consumer* = consumers, consumerism etc.)
  • In the results page, use Refine my results (right menu) to filter your results by full text online, date, etc

3. The Library Collection

How to start your search (opens in a new tab)

The Library Collection is a good place to start your search for scholarly material. You can use it to find eBooks, journal articles, reports, videos and more.

Using the "refine my results" menu, you can refine your search to find exactly what you need.

4. Recommended databases

To find a company report in Passport GMID, select the Companies option from the Categories drop-down.

To find all mentions of a company in a variety of sources do a keyword search.

  1. Search Vesco in the top search bar. Search for Super Nature (Owned by Vesco Foods Pty Ltd) in Passport GMID
  2. Wait for the results to display underneath the search bar, then select one of the results.
  3. In the company shares page, select the icon  on the left hand side to find other resources.

Business Source Ultimate is an essential database covering all aspects of business, including marketing.

Below is an example search:

Search example in Business Source Ultimate, search string: "ready meals" OR "frozen food*" AND consumer*.

Tip: You can filter your results on the left hand side.

Find industry reports

  1. In IBISWorld, go to: Industries (top menu).
  2. Select Specialized.
  3. Go to the Consumer Goods & Services box, then select OD5478 - Prepared Meals Production.
  4. To download the PDF report, select the red arrow icon next to the page heading (e.g., for report 'Prepared Meals Production in Australia').

Find company profile

  • On the same page, go to Companies (left menu).
  • Scroll down to the company search bar and select Vesco Foods to look at the company information.

WARC is a marketing and advertising database. To search in WARC:

1. Locate the search box at the top and enter your keywords:

2. From the right menu, you can apply filters to your search. Select the drop-down arrow to open up the options (e.g., for Categories).
